Welcome!

Welcome to Caps 'Round the Clock, a blog covering the Washington Capitals and the NHL. In season, I update the Blog after every practice and on game day with Caps news and information, and then provide a recap and analysis after each contest. I also write a periodical Prospect Watch and weekly feature pieces on the state of the Men in Red and other things Capitals. And of course, I will post videos and tidbits from around the League and offer my two cents as the season wears on. In the offseason, I write a Report Card for each player, and will keep you updated on all the news about the Caps through the summer. I'm glad you're here, and hope you come back!

Practice: Mar. 30

The Washington Capitals were on ice Friday for a practice following their heart-stopping 3-2 shootout win over the Bruins on Thursday night. Some updates from Kettler Capitals Iceplex:

Only ten players were on ice for the optional skate: Braden Holtby, Michal Neuvirth, Nicklas Backstrom, Jason Chimera, Jay Beagle, Cody Eakin, Joel Ward, Jeff Halpern, Jeff Schultz, and John Erskine.
Backstrom is continuing to recover from his concussion and looked good, going hard and skating with near full exertion.  He was battling with Jay Beagle along the boards for long stretches, too.  After practice, he said that he has no target date, but it sure seems as though he could be back for Saturday's game against the Canadiens.
Tomas Vokoun did not skate after exiting Thursday's game late in the first period with what is assumed to be an aggravation of his groin injury.  He is day to day.
Jason Chimera will not receive any supplemental discipline from Brendan Shanahan for his hit to Adam McQuaid in Thursday's game, as first reported by Brian McNally of the Washington Examiner.  Chimera was assessed a five minute major and a game misconduct for charging on the play.

That's all for now.  As always, follow me on Twitter here for news and updates.
